AUSTIN, TEXAS - April 6, 2011 - Representative Drew Darby (R-San Angelo) was featured as a guest contributor in the Austin-American Statesman today, explaining the need for supportive economic and regulatory policy in Texas for the solar industry. The solar industry is now a $71 billion market and growing. Domestically, solar is a $6 billion industry, yet despite Texas’ virtually unlimited sun and expansive geography, the state is not even among the top ten for installed solar generation capability.

Rep. Darby has filed HB 2961 to create a modest solar incentive program that would help launch the growth of the solar industry in Texas, creating thousands of jobs and attracting billions of dollars in private investment.

HB 2961 will be heard in the House State Affairs Committee on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in the John H. Reagan Building, Room 140. The committee hearing is set for 30 after the House adjourns or recesses.
