Funfest began July 1 with the coronation of the Miss Eagan Funfest Ambassador and ended July 4 with the fireworks display. Eisenhuth’s Eagan and Inver Grove Heights orthodontics practice sponsored the July 3 children’s activities, according to sponsor information posted on the Funfest website. Eisenhuth began her involvement in the celebration two years ago, when the Inver Grove Heights Invisalign specialist, donated items to be given to children during the event. Last year, her $1,000 donation sponsored the children’s activities. “We love to take our children to community events like this Independence Day celebration, and we know other families do, too,” said the Eagan and Inver Grove Heights braces provider. “Having plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied and engaged makes it memorable for them, and we wanted to help make that happen. We were happy to be able to do that once again this year.” The success of community events such as Funfest are dependent upon the generosity of individuals and businesses throughout the community, said Raleigh Seelig prior to last year’s event. Seelig has chaired the July 4th Funfest committee for more than 20 years. The 2010 Funfest event doubled as the City of Eagan’s 150th birthday celebration, which was observed with a separate parade on July 3. The celebration also included reviving an old tradition: the Children’s Funfest Bike Parade.
