This year, another reason has been added into why people flock to Singapore for business and employment opportunities. In February 14, 2011, Singapore has been named as Asia’s Greenest City by Siemens, Centre for Liveable Cities, and the Economist Intelligence Unit.

The organizers made the decision after documenting the best practices in environmental management by all cities in Asia for its Siemens Green City Index study. This fact is besides Singapore retaining its first ranking in Ease of Doing Business Report for 2011 by the International Finance Corporation.

Asiabiz processes labor visas for companies that hire foreign employees. In the city-state, the laws prescribe that only registered companies can apply for labor passes for their employees. In turn, these companies channel these applications to professional firms such as Asiabiz.

“Although we process all types of Singapore work visas, the most common types are the Entrepreneur, Employment, and Specialist passes,” says a business consultant of Asiabiz.

“The Entrepreneur pass is quite different because it is exclusive for entrepreneurs that haven’t completed the tertiary level of education, but possesses impressive entrepreneurial skills,” continues Asiabiz.

Asiabiz adds: “Before a company is incorporated, the Entrepreneur pass must first be applied. And its approval depends on the capital investment, business proposal, and entrepreneurial experience of the applicant.”

Asiabiz composes of a team of dynamic accountants and market analysts that also specializes in drafting business proposals to assist entrepreneurs in this aspect.

On the other hand, the Employment pass is exclusive for foreign professionals by education. At the very least, they earned a Bachelor’s degree.

“The Employment pass is further categorized into Q1, P1, and P2 relative to the applicant’s qualifications,” remarks the business consultant.

“The determining factor is the salary. Although there is no minimum wage amount imposed by the government, the lowest that a company can offer to foreign nationals to qualify for Q1 is S$2,500. For P2, the salary offer must be S$3,500, while to deserve P1, the salary is S$7,000 and up,” beams Asiabiz.

While all applicants are expected to be professionals and experienced, they should also possess other qualifying skills.

Meanwhile, the Specialist pass or S pass is also for professional that may fall short of the qualifications stipulated by Q1. It is a point system and the salary offer is not lower than S$1,800.

Status of applications is determined after 2 to 5 weeks depending whether the application was submitted manually or online. At any rate, applicants can view the status on Ministry of Manpower’s website as soon as the application is submitted.

Asiabiz provides business solutions such as nominee services, accounting services, chartered secretaryship, and company incorporation.
