Global Media Ministry Equips Catholic Men and Women as Ambassadors

Chicago, Jan. 21 – Just after Christ warns his disciples that much is required of them, he exhorts them with this saying, “I have come to light a fire on the earth.” This proclamation has become the mantra of Word On Fire Catholic Ministries, a media evangelization apostolate led by Fr. Robert Barron, a popular priest from the Archdiocese of Chicago. The ministry boldly proclaims through new and emerging technologies that Jesus Christ is the source of conversion for humanity and the means to new life.

Fr. Barron has an enthusiastic fan base among Christians and non-Christians alike who follow him on YouTube, Facebook and through the many resources he offers at his website, WordOnFire.org. He is one of the great, spiritual teachers of our time who can clearly explain what the Church believes and why.

Recently, Fr. Barron has invited his “fans”, “friends” and “followers” to not only step up in their support of the mission of Word On Fire, but to also step out in boldness by joining his Ambassador program. Word On Fire ambassadors assist the New Evangelization by linking parishes, dioceses and faith communities to resources from Fr. Barron including compelling and inspiring podcasts, weekly sermons, YouTube videos, TV programs, books and dozens of interactive resources available at the website.

“It is my hope that every major city in the world, every diocese will have a Word On Fire Ambassador by the end of 2010. Many enthusiastic learners and supporters have already joined me in this mission,” said Fr. Robert Barron. “But more are needed to bring the message of the Gospel to the whole world.”

Word On Fire Ambassadors are equipped with tools to help them spread the word about the outstanding faith resources available from Fr. Barron at the Word On Fire website. Ambassadors can help with the simplest of tasks, such as inviting more fans to Facebook or more followers to Twitter, or they can assist Word On Fire with larger tasks of the mission such as screening events or ministry development. Ambassadors are linked to one another through the Word On Fire interactive website and are remembered in Fr. Barron’s monthly Mass intentions.
