Toronto (January 25, 2011). Livedress.com [http://www.livedress.com], the social network site for the fashion community, is launching a student outreach program to enable the next generation of fashion designers, stylists, and retailers, to kick-start their careers. The company has built a suite of customized tools that enable fashion students to connect, engage, and attract a fan base - helping them to build their professional brand. The suite of services is absolutely free for fashion students to access and utilize.

Two fashion schools already taking part include Ryerson University and George Brown College, both based in Toronto. Livedress founder Jonathan Davids, will be visiting the various schools to speak to students about how to effectively use social media to build a career in the fashion industry.

Students who join Livedress and upload content by March 31, 2011, will be featured on the Livedress homepage - an amazing opportunity for publicity.

To use the service, fashion students first need to create a style profile on Livedress. Once the profile is up, they can use the Livedress service to distribute merchandise collections, new designs, runway videos, news pieces, updates, and more. Items can quickly be shared with your own personal network using Livedress’ proprietary social engine.

When Livedress users find content they like, they can choose to ‘follow’ that content creator, in this case the fashion student. This makes it quick for talented students to build a network.

“Students are already engaged with social media in a huge way,” explains Livedress founder Jonathan Davids. “Livedress gives them a platform to build their professional profile. It gives them the ability to connect with a broad fashion community and share their creations. We’ve made it easy to keep in close communication with an existing fan base and grow that base every day.”

In developing this suite of services, the Livedress team interviewed fashion students to gauge where the company could add the most value to a student’s needs. The key discovery was in helping to connect with a personal network of connections and grow that network. When a student is sketching new designs every day, they want to share that content with people they know and people they don’t know.

The Livedress platform behaves like a fully integrated social network. In addition to students, designers, retailers, and stylists have come on board. Current brands using the service include fashion retailers Macy’s and Nordstrom, Hollywood stylists Anya Sarre and Alissia Marciano, and even the world’s top fashion bloggers such as ‘julieg713’ who has a YouTube audience of 260,000.

“In this highly competitive industry, it is critical for students to start crafting an image in their early years,” says Mr. Davids, the company’s 27-year-old founder. ”Livedress is where fashion lovers are browsing, discovering, and buying, each and every day.”

The company will continue to role out new services in the coming months, aimed at making content more social, engaging, and personalized.
