The Best Surf Spots
Witches Rock, Pavones, Tamarindo and many less known but equally amazing breaks are all located a short distance from each other in the Plant’s top surf spot, Costa Rica. The year round warm Pacific Ocean off Costa Rica’s west coast is the largest concentration of perfect waves to be found. Much less know but highly recommended breaks are located at Playa Negra and Play Grande. Both of these are great breaks when there is a decent swell. These two breaks are located in Costa Rica’s Guanacaste Province which is in the North West area of the country. Playa Negra is probably the least crowded of all the spots mentioned and is a favorite of surfers who frequent the country. Low priced hostels and some really fun beach bars area also found in Playa Negra. For a great break with better accommodations, Playa Grande is a great spot. Playa Grande is still a smaller beach town but not as undeveloped as Playa Negra. Nevertheless, Playa Grande is an estuary area with waves that make you wake up thinking about nothing else but surfing.
