Drivers can see the Optima Hybrid now at Fisher Kia.

The Kia Optima now officially holds the Guinness World Record for the most fuel economy of any hybrid gasoline-powered vehicle. On its record-breaking drive across the United States, a standard-equipped 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid sedan achieved an average of 64.55 mpg. Not only was this remarkable due to the fuel economy itself, but the Kia Optima Hybrid actually achieved 61.37% better fuel economy than its advertised 35/40 mpg. Now that’s a vehicle that performs above standards! Area drivers can come to Fisher Kia to test drive one of the six 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid models available at their Boulder Kia dealership and experience what superior fuel economy really is.

The Kia Optima Hybrid’s Fuel-Efficient Cross Country Journey

In order for the Kia Optima Hybrid to win the Guinness World Record, it had to achieve at least an average of 52.72 mpg. Not only did the Optima deliver, but it exceeded that goal by 23% to claim the title of most fuel-efficient hybrid vehicle. The Optima Hybrid’s journey consisted of driving for 14 days, about 564 miles per day, through all sorts of road and weather conditions across the 48 continental United States. The driver and passenger each also had to keep their luggage for the trip in the car to get an accurate reading of fuel efficiency just like regular drivers would. The drivers only had to use about 5.5 tanks of gasoline for the entire 7,899 mile trip, fueling up about every 1,418 miles.

Even the drivers of the Kia Optima Hybrid stated that they were not just happy with the vehicle’s fuel economy, but they also had a comfortable two-week ride. They said it was spacious and comfortable, and it performed flawlessly in the various terrains and driving conditions they encountered throughout the trip. While fuel economy was the name of the game for the world record, it’s important to remember there’s even more to the Kia Optima Hybrid.
