London October 12 2010 – A funky new gadget is set to replace the traditional kettle in homes and offices in the UK.

The T6, so called because its makers regard it as the sixth indispensible kitchen appliance, is a natty water dispenser that combines kettle and water cooler. The counter-top machine is fed directly from the mains and dispenses water at four different temperatures - boiling hot, hot, ambient and chilled.

It houses a triple filtration unit that removes odours and particles of sand, silt, rust and chlorine in the water supply down to 0.6 micron. Chilled water is exposed to a UV lamp which destroys micro-organisms and its ‘Zero Air Gap Technology’ prevents bacteria.

Nick Heane, managing director at Tana Water which is launching the product for homes and small businesses, said: “We have been so used to technology charging forward in all sorts of aspects of our lives.

“But the kettle has been ignored during this technological revolution. Its basic form is pretty much the same as 100 years ago – you put water into a metal container, heat it and wait for it to boil. It is very inefficient.

“The T6 modernises this whole process by keeping insulated a supply of water just below the boil, ready to deliver hot water by the cup. No more waiting for the kettle to boil and no more waste by boiling too much water.

“Not only does the T6 deliver hot water at temperatures for perfect tea and coffee, it dispenses triple-filtered chilled water which you can cool to a temperature of your choice. We believe it is going to be one of the must have gadgets in 2011.”

As it is connected to the mains, the T6 delivers crystal clear water every day all day without the need for bottled water. It comes in 12 different colours and is approved under the Water Regulation Advisory Scheme.
